Business Development Representative (Southeast) US
Job Summary
The Business Development Representative - Southeast United States is responsible for new market and application development of Advanced Composite solutions at targeted segments and customers. This position is responsible for prospecting, vetting, and qualifying new business opportunities, maximizing the value proposition, and coordinating the follow-through needed to close new business at targeted OEM's as well as furthering profitable growth with existing customers. The Business Development Representative works closely with the Product Development and Engineering teams as well as the Technical and Commercial teams of our current and prospective customers to link customer needs and requirements with Avient technologies and capabilities. Minimal training and oversight is required and the individual will work autonomously on a day to day basis. The ideal candidate will be located in the Southeastern United States. Up to 75% travel is required.
Essential Functions
- Profitable revenue growth, including robust new business development.
- Achieve stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
- Approach the sales process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of customer centric selling skills and tools, such as use of scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high/wide/deep, 5 warning signs, prospecting & new account calls, development of a robust sales funnel, collecting ARs, avoidance of bad debts, cross selling, and effective CRM system management.
- Develop account relationships, identify opportunities and capture the specification for Avient's products at strategic accounts within assigned geography or industry.
- Understand key players, applications, requirements, trends, and needs as well as Avient's potential and share within the targeted industry.
- Coordinate closely with the regional sales teams as well as supporting technical organizations as necessary to accelerate and drive profitable growth through specifications/solutions selling to targeted accounts.
- Establish a linkage between the customer’s business strategy and Avient's capabilities.
- Monitor the competition to better understand issues and threats and develop plans to eliminate barriers.
- Implement Avient's product, pricing and market strategies as well as business practices. Negotiate customer contracts and value packages to ensure an acceptable return on Avient resources invested.
- Assist in defining the target markets, key processors and commercial product strategy.
- Develop written Account Plans for strategic accounts including metrics to define annualized sales potential at each account.
- Manage strategic relationships, cultivate new alliances, and monitor competitive activity.
- Communicate regularly and broadly. Ensure smooth transitions to regional sales, customer service, global partners and manufacturing.
- Create and maintain CRM data and sales statistics as required.
