Avient is looking for a business-minded and forward-thinking HR leader with a passion for driving strategic initiatives across diverse markets to join our organization as Human Resources Director, EMEA! Our HR Directors play a pivotal role in enabling Avient to succeed by aligning our people strategy with our business objectives. 

Through strong partnership with regional and global leaders, our HR Directors ensure that we are engaging, retaining, developing, recruiting and rewarding the industry’s best talent all with a focus on achieving collective success. The Human Resources Director, EMEA is a critical part of the regional leadership team who will be a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and expertise on all aspects of our people strategy across the region. We have 3,300 talented employees across 22 countries and 37 manufacturing facilities dedicated to helping our customers succeed while enabling a sustainable world.

The best person for the role will be a collaborative, customer centric leader with expertise in implementing HR initiatives across this complex region. They will be able to balance the local, country and regional needs with the global strategy, positively impacting the success of Avient. They will have demonstrated success in managing multiple competing priorities, the ability to adjust their style to a variety of leaders, experience in partnering across international teams in a matrix structure, and will be an inspirational leader to develop the HR team that reports, both directly and indirectly, to them.

Reporting directly to the SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer this individual will be on the global HR Leadership Team and a part of the EMEA leadership team, bringing their regional and functional expertise to elevate and implement our People Strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Embraces their role of change agent; living the Avient Leadership Behaviors and evolving the culture to achieve our business strategy. Coaches and holds their team accountable to the same.
  • Acts as a business partner and trusted advisor with senior leaders to develop and implement strategic people initiatives, policies, and programs that align to business goals and drive results while ensuring compliance with all local labor laws. Leverages their expertise to ensure leaders have solutions to balance employee, labor relations, and business needs.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and leadership in the design, planning, operation, and implementation of the regional human resources policies, practices and procedures including areas such as benefits, compensation, training, recruiting, workforce planning, conflict management, performance management, etc. Partners with global HR Centers of Excellence and HR Leadership Team to support global alignment with local implementation.
  • Maximizes global HR team collaboration, efficiency, and effectiveness to drive functional and business strategies, fostering a unified approach to achieving Avient's strategic goals.
  • Leverages data to tell a story and support fact-based decision making for our leaders and team.
  • Manages multiple and/or large projects in the development, enhancement, and innovation of their client groups across the region, inclusive of mergers & acquisitions as required.
  • Leads human resources practices which enable a high-performance culture that emphasizes seamless collaboration, innovation, transparency, quality, productivity, positive results.
  • Leverages digital tools, in alignment with Avient strategy and programs, to identify solutions to improve effectiveness and employee satisfaction across administration of HR aspects.
  • Manages and leads a high performing HR team and delivers performance feedback, coaching and mentoring to expand our HR talent pipeline.
  • Proactively manages relationships with applicable human resources vendors in partnership with global Centers of Excellence including benefits carriers, search firms, training firms, etc..
  • Performs other projects as required by the business.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field or equivalent experience with a Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in human resources field with extensive experience supporting manufacturing or similar industry within the EMEA region required
  • Demonstrated skills in labor relations. Experience with European Works Council a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with individuals globally and across all organizational levels
  • Ability to work as part of a team with excellent collaboration skills across other functions and with business partners
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities including good time management skills, organizational skills, and taking accountability for tasks and issues
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Quick thinking, initiative taking, thirst for learning and unafraid to be out of comfort zone
  • Expertise in HR systems and Microsoft Suite strongly preferred
