PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary purpose of Quality Officer is to provide quality support and oversight to ensure compliance with quality systems and/or regulations that govern Avient Protective Materials organization.  Compliance ensures that Avient Protective Materials can operate without impeding product quality, causing product stoppages or reducing customer satisfaction.

JOB CONTEXT:

1.)  Direction and priority setting by immediate supervisor.  Customer contact is primarily internal (local/global) to organization.

2.)    Products supported by this position include all products manufactured at Avient Protective Materials Greenville Site.

3.)    Collaboration on projects and/or documentation and/or communicate issues for resolution/investigation with associates in other departments in the local and global organization.

JOB CONTENT:

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

1.     All employees have the responsibility to:

a)    Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient Protective Materials requirements, rules and procedures

b)    Address any person behaving in a SHE and Security irresponsible way

c)     Report any SHE and Security incidents (including observed risks) to management 

2.     Avient Protective Materials Values - Must strive to behave in line with Avient Protective Materials Values, supporting and encouraging colleagues in their alignment with our Values. 3.   Manufacturing Excellence – Avient Protective Materials wants to be 'best in class' in every respect, including manufacturing. To excel in manufacturing, we need to optimize how we do things. Everyone within the organization has at least one role within Manufacturing Excellence. Roles and responsibilities are defined and assigned to those involved in the different Manufacturing Excellence Work Processes. 

4.     Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed.  Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems, and procedures.

5.   Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of:  employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a “need to know” only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or APM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of APM property and keys.

6.     Perform SAP master data activities to support both local and global needs.

7.     Provide product release quality support by being a key user of SAP Quality Management Module to include releasing and/or blocking raw materials & intermediate products for further processing and final product for shipment to customer.

8.  Provide quality oversight of assigned customer complaints by facilitating investigation with impacted departments, ensuring that identified corrective and/or preventive actions are aligned with quality system requirements and effectively implemented, and complaint documentation is completed and/or approved within specified timeline.

9.     Ensure adherence to quality system, corporate and/or regulatory requirements with little dependence on others.  Identify deviations or non-conformances and issue appropriate internal notifications to responsible areas for follow-up.  Provide quality oversight by facilitating investigation with impacted departments, ensuring that identified corrective and/or preventive actions are aligned with quality system requirements and effectively implemented, and documentation is completed and/or approved within specified timeline.

10.   Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Quality Management Systems and represent Quality Assurance in multi-disciplinary teams as assigned (i.e., quality risk assessments, compliance initiatives, product introductions and/or changes, facility expansions, etc.)

11.   Perform document (i.e., procedural, batch records, complaints, investigations, validation) reviews and make determinations as to whether work performed meets current procedures and/or quality system expectations.  Communicate and coordinate with other departments as required to resolve issues and compliance concerns detected during review.

12.   Perform trending, analysis and reporting of quality system performance issues to identify and resolve high priority issues.

13.   Participate in quality audits (i.e., customer, notified body, internal, supplier) as assigned representing quality assurance.  ISO Auditor training is required.

14.   Perform quality compliance assessments for change control, including validation, and make decisions regarding quality impact and requirements.

15.   Assist training department in identifying and developing needed and/or required quality system training (i.e., ISO quality system, Corrective and Preventive Actions, etc.)

16.  Comply with all job-related safety and training requirements in a timely manner.

17.  Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation.  Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.

18.  Perform other duties as assigned.

            Authorities

Authorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities

COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB:

The Quality Officer will interact with all staff locally within Avient Protective Materials, globally within Avient Protective Materials, and Corporate APM.  Decisions and actions will impact Avient Protective Materials.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

You have a MS degree and one year relevant experience in Quality Assurance.  Or you have a BS/BA degree and three years relevant experience.  Or you have an AA/AS degree and four years relevant experience.  Or you have five years relevant experience.

REQUIRED LEVEL OF EXPERIENCES:

·       Knowledge of ISO Standards (9001/13485) and quality system requirements

·       Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook

·       SAP knowledge including Master data experience

·       Ability to effectively interact with a variety of departments and resolve conflicts.

·       Ability to analyze data and identify trends
