Sales Director
General Summary:
The Director of Sales provides leadership in developing commercial strategic plans and supervising a team of direct reports with significant budget responsibility. This position has global responsibility for the overall commercial growth. Expectations include the ability to effectively coach a sales team to sell at all levels of management and build relationships that ensure Avient will continue to get the first and last look. Being skilled at customer centric selling approaches and effectively selling the value of our products and services are also keys to success, as well as have the ability to assist customers in problem solving to deliver solutions, bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to their daily routines. This individual is a thought leader who performs independently and has demonstrated the ability to effectively interact and influence all levels of organizations (Avient and Customer) including the VP/GM level. Up to 75% travel is required.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
The purpose of the Sales Function is to deliver:
Delivering year-over-year profitable growth in Operating Income and Sales for the region. Must have a proven track record of growing a business, including achieving stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales, and robust new business development align with business strategies.
•Must be experienced in developing a budget, operating plan and goals for sellers and technical representatives that align & ensure delivery of the annual operating plan commitments. Development of short- and long-term sales forecasts for product lines and markets and preparation the business plan, strategy, and implementation of a successful business plan annually.
•Development of highly productive relationships with key customers, key distributors and internal contacts is essential, to increase market share.
•Approach the value-selling sales process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of customer centric selling skills and tools, such as use of scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high/wide/deep, 5 warning signs, prospecting & new account calls, development of a robust sales funnel, collecting ARs, avoidance of bad debts, cross selling, and effective CRM system management.
Develops the strategic business framework to develop a profitable, market-leading business-wide category approach.
•Responsible for lead sales activities with sales team, global partners and manufacturing to ensure smooth transition of NPD and POL programs to action.
•Maintaining first-hand knowledge of technology changes, material development and market place conditions; makes presentations at sales meetings.
Creating a GPTW environment where a highly motivated, engaged team of Sales professionals thrive.
•Develop and optimize the sales organization to deliver the business strategies and sustainable growth
•Ability to coach, mentor and develop direct reports is a key aspect of this position.
Serving as a member of the Commercial Leadership team in meetings and working on projects across the Division.
Scope
Personnel: Is responsible for the entire SEM Asia Sales Team.
Sales Revenue: Territory specific.
Other: Typically reports to General Manager or equivalent.
